March Monthly Goals - 2016

Here were last month's goals. February: - Complete my Personal Nutrition final - Done! Finished with Distinction - Start and finish the Interior Design course so I can decorate an entire house in March - Nope. But the house in need of decorating isn't happening anymore, so no rush. - Proofread a friend's new novel - Hell no. And this makes me feel bad. - Set up some SMART goals and achieve them! I need to add more veggies in my diet, and add more physical activity! - Nope. I mean I did eat more veggies and hit my step goals more often, but didn't actually set the goals. - Do something fun for Valentine's - Yes! We waited til the day after V-Day and saw Deadpool with a good friend. - Get the February newsletter out fast. - Never did it. - Start the Couch to 5K program - Didn't even download the app - Get some more junk out of the house - This was actually successful! Hubs spent a few days rearranging, and we got some crap out. My house is almost liv...

Day 13 - 18 recap #GiveIt100

Day 13- 20 min yoga 14 - 20 min yoga 15 - 20 min yoga 16 - nada 17 - nada 18 - 20 min yoga? I hope! The last few days haven't been so great exercise-wise. I've done 20 min of yoga on most days, but I'm not happy with that. I should be doing a lot more. I'm headed towards Day 20, 20% of the way through this challenge. I'm going to get back to more exercise today, I hope. I slept way too late, got to work late and needed to stay late to make up some hours. But there's no reason why I can't do 20 min of yoga. We'll see how tonight goes. I hope that tomorrow will be much better.

Day 7-12 Recap #GiveIt100

I've been really busy the last week. The last day I discussed was Day 5(6) - Jan 15th. It's been an entire week since then! I've decided to start ignoring the count of official days, so no more 5(6)ish days. Day 7 - The basic 15 min yoga and some games on the wii. Day 8 - I took off work to help out my grandmother. I decided to take the time to start sorting through boxes in her garage. Half of them are mine and the other half are my mom's. We got a decent chunk out. My mom purchased a garage sale permit, so we would sell stuff we didn't want whenever someone drove by. Day 9 - This was the official garage sale day! We were raising money for a friend's son. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 6 months, and was diagnosed with a rare and terminal liver cancer last fall, at 13 yrs old. It's a cancer that they don't usually see unless you are from overseas and over 50 yrs old. We ended up raising $115 towards his medical bills. I also got to han...

Day 2-4 of GiveIt100 recap

Day 2: Today I waited until late evening to do my workout. I did a 45 minutes candlelight yoga session (http://www.amazon.com/Crunch-Candlelight-Yoga-Sara-Ivanhoe/dp/B00006FMB2). It felt great, and I went to bed right afterwards. I slept pretty good, too. That's a win in and of itself. Day 3: Just a 15 min energizer. I didn't really do much else. I wasn't feeling too hot. And that followed over to day 4. Day 4: Nothing. I thought about doing some sort of workout several times, but I never actually got up and did anything. So Day 5 is going to have a longer workout. I'll definitely be doing some yoga, probably one of the 20 min series (http://www.amazon.com/Sara-Ivanhoes-Min-Yoga-Makeover/dp/B00049QQUU), very likely the 20 min for weight loss. Can you tell I'm a fan of Sara Ivanhoe? hahah I like her sets. She's really good at explaining what to do without being annoying. Have you ever had that issue? Where you can't stand to finish a workout dvd because t...

GiveIt100 - Day 1!

Day one was a great start, in my opinion. I did a 15 min yoga energizer, and a little while later I finally tried a barre3 workout. I've only been paying for a membership for three months now. I only did a 10 min session to get an idea of how it works, and my legs were burning and screaming by minute 6. It was a killer workout. I'm looking forward to day 2's workout. I'll probably do a 20 min yoga session, another barre3 workout, and maybe a trip to the gym to cycle. I took pics, but I don't want to post them where the whole world can see them. I will next time I'm in enough clothing hahaha.

Making changes!

Have you seen the giveIt100 challenge? I've been seeing it everywhere lately. The woman decided to take a video of herself working out every day for 100 days. She lost 18 pounds and two dress sizes. That's fantastic! I'm going to do it. I don't know if I am going to share it with the world like she did, but I am doing this with another friend, and she'll be able to see them. I start today. I'm not going to give myself a chance to get out of it. I'm doing it. No matter what. On another note, Hubs and I cleaned the living room last night. That's a big deal. And I made fresh orange juice afterwards. And I didn't flip out or get too overwhelmed. I'm excited! I attribute this to the new meds I started and loving motivation from my good friend SECF! (She used to be SECS, but she got married! Yay!) And now that the living room is clean and I have floor space again, it's back to working out. I have plenty of room from my yoga mat and any other e...

New Daily Schedule

I've decided to try a forced schedule again. I'm not going as strict as I tried last time. This time, if I'm not running late to work, everything must be done before I allow myself to leave the house. It means that I'll have to go to bed earlier so I can wake up earlier, but I need to do that anyway. AM: Oil-pulling Brush teeth Take meds and supplements Drink glass of warm lemon water and apple cider vinegar Make smoothie 15+ min of yoga or barre3 Shower PM: Make Dinner or eat leftovers pack lunch for next day 30+ minutes yoga or barre3 spend 10+ minutes outside with Spike Take meds by 9:30pm brush teeth In bed by 10:30pm I think it might be difficult in the beginning because I love my sleep, but I have to push through it and follow Nike's slogan - JUST DO IT. That's been my problem all along. I will tell myself I need to do something, but stay on the couch instead. I've got to start listening to myself and following through instead o...

Life would be boring without change

Sometimes things have to change, even if you don't really want them to. I've been feeling better, becoming more sociable, more productive. It's great, and I'm very happy about it. But as I was getting ready to volunteer again, I found it necessary to cut ties with my favorite organization. It's probably a good thing, because my focus won't be spread so thin. And it will give me an opportunity to find other organizations here in the area that need my help. Like Sandwich-Making Saturdays. There's a group that gets together on Saturday mornings to pack hundreds of sandwiches and cookies for the homeless. I'm good at making sandwiches :) I need to focus on myself anyway. My paychecks are starting to get bigger because I've been able to work more hours, full-time instead of part-time. So I can start getting back into the mindset that I can afford what I want instead of just what is absolutely necessary. I will be going back to yoga classes, joining the ...

Starting Fat Ass Friday, Again.

I need to talk about weight a little. I got on the scale today because I knew I had gained weight. There's no way I hadn't, considering the number of donuts consumed in the last month or two. When the really good ones are only 50 cents a piece and you have no self control, it's hard not to be surprised. My lowest weight in the last year was 225. I'm back up to 242, and I almost started crying. But yesterday I put on one of my favorite shirts, straight out of the dryer, and realized it has never fit me so loosely. Hubs said he's been trying to tell me I've lost inches. Apparently when we got together, he could barely touch his fingers together during a hug - I know how that feels because I couldn't feel my fingers when I hugged my ex. He said that now he can almost interlace his fingers during a hug. It made me feel really good. So, screw the scale. I'm going to focus on measurements instead. My new best friend Kat is doing that too. She already threw h...

No restrictions, no excuses - just success.

I haven't updated a lot since I made my new year's resolution. So far, I'm not doing as well as I had hoped, but I'm doing better than nothing. Last week I did 2 yoga sessions, one 1/2 mile lap around the park, and 100 crunches. I succeeded in working out 3 days. Yay! Since it is getting warmer, I'm planning to do the lap around the park more often. Hubs and I used to go often last year, but stopped when it got too cold. Now we have to get back in the swing of things, and I think we can. I was upset at my weigh-in last night, because I had gone up a pound. But I'm going to try to focus my goals on what I'm doing, not what I'm weighing. This week's goal is to work out at least 3 days, and at least 30 min sessions. No restrictions, no excuses - just success.

My New Year's Resolution - Become a MILF

I know that sounds por.no-ish, but I don't care. I want to be hot and sexy by the end of the year, and I'd love to be a mom. So if we combine those, you get a MILF. (Mother I'd like to F***, for those of you that are wondering) I want to lose at least 50 pounds, which averages out to 1 pound a week. I don't see why that would be too hard. My exercise/workout plans - Couch to 5K program with my husband. It's designed to get you RUNNING a 5K in 9 weeks. I'm hoping that this will be good for me and the hubby. He hasn't really been able to run since he got shot 6 yrs ago. I figured if we went slow, this would be like rehab for him, and he will be able to run again (or at least walk easier.) Yoga EVERY DAY. Leanne, a fabulous food blogger at HealthfulPursuit.com , did a 30-day challenge, where she did yoga every day, no matter how she felt. And she realized that the days that she didn't want to go were the days she really needed it the most. And when I ...

September Goals and Blog Hop

It's already September? Good grief. That means that our 3 year wedding anniversary is next month. The PCOS 5K is this month. Christmas is around the corner. August Goals: Walk at least a mile twice a week (2.5+ laps around BBR pond) No. But West Nile has me eager to stay at home so I don't die.  3 days without red meat, pork or poultry  No . At least I'm doing vegetarian days every once in a while, even if they aren't in a row. Start oil-pulling again  No.   Seriously just not remembering to do it at all. Rearrange dining room  No . But I have sent out invitations for a Halloween party already, so that should provide some motivation. Attend a transcendental meditation info session - Did this! Applied for a scholarship because I can't afford the tuition on my own. Listen to my Circle+Bloom mind-body meditation sessions 3+ times a week (after downloading them again)  No . I downloaded them. Listened once. Really need an mp3 player so I can listen i...

Yoga? Why yes I will!

One of my goals this month was to start doing yoga at home so I'm prepared to use my free week next month. If you walked into my house, you'd think I was a regular yogi - plenty of yoga clothes, 2 mats (because the first one wasn't as pretty as the second one), resistance bands, etc. But in all reality, I haven't done yoga in almost a year. In fact, I stopped looking at the closet door so I didn't get mad that my mat had been in the same place for so long. The floor was vacuumed moments before this pic was taken.  If you look closely you'll see that it's already covered in  hair again. So Monday I texted the hubby and said "Do not allow me to do anything when I get home until after I do yoga." Then I had to quickly modify it with this comment, "Okay, except for vacuum the living room floor so I don't gag on dog hair while I'm doing it." (I still, to this day, don't understand why I decided to bring home a white do...
