Another Month, Another List of Goals - Feb 2016 Edition

It's February! Damn. January went by really fast, and Feb will likely go faster, even if it has an extra day this year! So how did January go? Not half bad. I got a lot accomplished, even though they might not have been on the goal list. I didn't spend a ridiculous amount of money. I took Hubs to Mellow Mushroom so he would quit nagging me. I got a FitBit! My support group had the 2nd annual clothing swap and that went well too! The fitbit story is great. I've wanted one for a while, but haven't been ready to fork out the money for what I felt was an overpriced pedometer. But surfing the facebook garage sale groups can prove beneficial. I managed to score 2 fitbits, with chargers and bands for $40. Yeah, I made sure to type that right. Other people wanted it before me, but when you have a husband that doesn't work, you can make him do things immediately that other people have to wait until after work to do. So when I told the seller that I could have the cash in h...

I forgot how good being happy felt

Surprise! I decided to change my blog name. Don't worry, the URL hasn't changed :) It's been a little over a week since we finished the move to our new place. I wanted to give you an update on my resulting mental status. I've been so much happier this week. We love the apartment. Spike has calmed down a little with the barking. I haven't cried. I'm not upset about having a smaller kitchen. I enjoy knowing that I don't have room to buy more things. I have more money to do fun things, like buy Groupons for bowling & batting cages, concert tickets, etc. I know that we haven't been here long, but I am really starting to feel happy again. I LOVE IT! I've certainly missed this happy feeling and I can't wait for it to continue as time goes on. I went to Sprouts last night and got lots of organic fruits and veggies that I can snack on throughout the coming few weeks. Grass fed beef was on sale for super cheap, so my freezer is stocked. I'm go...

My 2014 'I Want's

I've already talked about my New Year's resolution... I also decided that I want to make an 'I Want' list for the year. These are things that I hope to incorporate into my life as part of the 'Be a Happier Me' resolution. These are by no means requirements to satisfy my goal. They are simply things that I'd like to see in my life. They do not determine whether I pass or fail. The Happify program I'm a part of has me do tasks like this - Visualizing what success would look like, what I'm doing, what I'm not doing, etc. A lot of them are new habits that I want to form, and I think making a list, printing them out, and posting them all over the house might help just a little :) I Want to... ... drink a glass of apple cider vinegar and lemon water every morning ... do my oil-pulling every morning ... spend more quality time with Hubs ... find a workout routine that I enjoy ... work out at least 3 times a week ... practice at least 15 min ...

Goals vs Plans vs Spontaneity

I've decided that planning and I really don't get along. It ends up making me upset that I didn't stick to it 100%. So I'm going to live spontaneously. The weather is beautiful, and I'm really happy about it. I can get back to walking without roasting. We went for a walk last night. Although I had to make frequent pit stops to sit, We still got in at least half a mile, if not a full mile. I'm going to walk again tonight. Maybe I'll even attempt to walk Spike to the dog park so he can play. This idea of living spontaneously is not new to me, but I've never really followed through with it. That needs to change. But I'm not planning. Because planning to be spontaneous defeats the purpose. I'm not going to be dumb like some of the YOLO kids (you only live once), but I am going to enjoy life, day by day, and forget the big picture for a while. Once I get my life straightened out I'll go back to worrying about the big pic. Of course, I've a...

From sad to excited in an hour :)

Lately I've really been fighting with the fatigue issues that come along with fibromyalgia. I slept almost the entire weekend, even missing a workday because I slept through all the alarms and Hubs trying to wake me up. Being exhausted is exhausting. I had planned on stopping at the library before work today, and gave up on that idea when I woke up. I decided that the extra 30min of sleep was more important than a book. And it is. But some days, when I'm staring at my computer, trying to concentrate on what I should be doing, I get teary-eyed. Some days I just can't focus, and all my body wants to do is sleep. As a way of fighting it, I load up on coffee (with no sugar!). Of course, then you could do some googling and find out that caffeine isn't all that great for people with fibro. I'm sure it's not that great for any of the other issues I fight with. But the coffee really doesn't help. It gives me a short burst of focus, then I have to have another cup to...
