Life and Exercise Recap Day 19-24 #GiveIt100

I almost want to start over at day 1. I didn't really do any exercise at all. Yesterday, day 24, Hubs and I spent most of the day cleaning and organizing the house because the annual inspections for our complex are today and tomorrow. It's the one time of year that I know the house will get cleaned, because of the potential for management to enter our home. I felt really good about getting it done. We went to the thrift store with Mom last Friday to buy a bunch of containers to put my bulk items in, like oatmeal, quinoa and sugar. Somehow we managed to get just the right size on a few of them - my large oatmeal container is filled to the very top, but it held the whole bag. I'm really happy to have fewer bags all over the place. I think it will help me stay organized and a little cleaner. I've got other containers from Homemade Gourmet pantry staples that I'm going to use for the smaller bags of flours, since HMG doesn't exist anymore. They fit great into one of...

Day 13 - 18 recap #GiveIt100

Day 13- 20 min yoga 14 - 20 min yoga 15 - 20 min yoga 16 - nada 17 - nada 18 - 20 min yoga? I hope! The last few days haven't been so great exercise-wise. I've done 20 min of yoga on most days, but I'm not happy with that. I should be doing a lot more. I'm headed towards Day 20, 20% of the way through this challenge. I'm going to get back to more exercise today, I hope. I slept way too late, got to work late and needed to stay late to make up some hours. But there's no reason why I can't do 20 min of yoga. We'll see how tonight goes. I hope that tomorrow will be much better.

Day 4 (take 2) - #GiveIt100

Since day 4 didn't have any exercise, I re-did it. I'm going to be keeping track of both the exercise days and the full 100 days. So day 4 redo was actually day 5. I'm going to notate it like this: 4(5). My hope is that this will be the only day that I don't stay on track, but if I should fall by the wayside, I'll just get back up and keep moving. So what did I do for Day 4 take two? I did my first weigh-in via wii fit. I'm going to use it as my weight loss tracker for the challenge, mainly because it says I'm 10ish pounds lighter than my bathroom scale does. The result? Just shy of 251 pounds. Bathroom scale said 259.8 several days ago. I should have gotten on the other scale after I did this weigh in to get a firm answer on how off the results are. Anyways, for my work out I did 30 minutes of strecthing, boxing and karate using the ExerBeat game. I forgot how fun it was, so I'm looking forward to getting back into a fun exercise routine. Eventually...

New Daily Schedule

I've decided to try a forced schedule again. I'm not going as strict as I tried last time. This time, if I'm not running late to work, everything must be done before I allow myself to leave the house. It means that I'll have to go to bed earlier so I can wake up earlier, but I need to do that anyway. AM: Oil-pulling Brush teeth Take meds and supplements Drink glass of warm lemon water and apple cider vinegar Make smoothie 15+ min of yoga or barre3 Shower PM: Make Dinner or eat leftovers pack lunch for next day 30+ minutes yoga or barre3 spend 10+ minutes outside with Spike Take meds by 9:30pm brush teeth In bed by 10:30pm I think it might be difficult in the beginning because I love my sleep, but I have to push through it and follow Nike's slogan - JUST DO IT. That's been my problem all along. I will tell myself I need to do something, but stay on the couch instead. I've got to start listening to myself and following through instead o...

28 to Great

I friend of mine, ACE, spent the last two years changing her life. She lost ~80 pounds in doing it, and she looks fabulous. She did it by changing her diet and finding an exercise program that she loved. Something she became almost addicted to - barre3. A combination of ballet, yoga and Pilates. I believe that part of my problem is my lack of LOVE for exercise. I haven't found something I enjoy so much that I want to do it everyday, instead of need to do it. I like walking. The scenery is pretty and the walking is easy. Just put one foot in front of the other. But I don't get the joy out of it like I would hope. So I'm going to try something new, and I bet ACE is going to be happy to hear it :) barre3 has a program called 28 to Great. 6 online workouts a week for 4 weeks. The workouts range from 10 to 60 minutes. And access to it is only $15 a month. 50 cents a day to try something that I might fall in love with. So as soon as I get paid, I'm signing up. And in a li...

Sometimes dreams are weird...

This morning I couldn't remember what I had dreamed about last night, but it just hit me. And now that I remember, I wanted to write it down before I forgot. And maybe I want to analyze it, because it was a little weird. Not a nightmare, but weird. (And this was not the first time I had it...) Hubs and I went to a gym. It was beautiful, bright sunlight through the windows, tons of equipment, a second floor with classes and a lounge. It had rows and rows on equipment. Compared to a real-life building, I felt it was about the size of the main floor of the Fort Worth Convention Center (I spent many summers there as a kid, which is why I remember that reference.) I spent the time cycling. The guy assisting us with getting our membership set up was the same in this one as the last. I couldn't find any paperwork to tell me how much it cost to be there. He said that it only cost money if we came before 5pm. But it was after 5, so no charge. It wasn't until this point that my dre...

Trying this menu thing again

I've mentioned it already, but I have no car. I think it'll do me some good, though. I'm going to start walking to the grocery store a few times a week, buying only what is needed to make meals for a few days. This will allow me to get exercise - about 1 mile at a time, and keep produce fresh so it doesn't get lost in the fridge. I'm still using the organic food service from urban Acres, and I'll use it to plan some of my weekend meals. I have to change my life. I have to get healthy. I need to focus on wellness. I WILL succeed. I keep saying that I'm going to change, but haven't done anything about it. But I can either say I want to do it, or actually do it. I need to shave my legs and hit the pool. I need to walk to the grocery store instead of asking my mom for a ride. I'm going to pull my yoga mat out of the closet (I'm a bit ashamed that it got put in there in the first place...) I know I sound like a broken record. "I'm going...

Weight Loss Challenge and GIVEAWAY!!

I've participated in the Soul Cyster Weight Loss Challenge on multiple occasions. I've even won once. And I'm ready to get back in it. So much so that I'm also volunteering to help run it. I'm responsible for creating some of the fitness challenges. I'm really excited about this for a few reasons. First, the format of the challenge has changed. Previously it has been a 3 month challenge, and it goes great for the first month, but activity starts to decline in months two and three. In order to keep everyone going and excited, it's being changed to last just 6 weeks. Instead of weigh-ins every two weeks, there will only be 3 weigh-ins total. The starting weight, mid-weight and end weight. The fitness challenges are going to build on themselves, progressively getting harder. There will be a lot of different options in regards to exercise, including yoga, cardio and circuit training. The participants of the challenge have access to a private facebook group t...

Starting Fat Ass Friday, Again.

I need to talk about weight a little. I got on the scale today because I knew I had gained weight. There's no way I hadn't, considering the number of donuts consumed in the last month or two. When the really good ones are only 50 cents a piece and you have no self control, it's hard not to be surprised. My lowest weight in the last year was 225. I'm back up to 242, and I almost started crying. But yesterday I put on one of my favorite shirts, straight out of the dryer, and realized it has never fit me so loosely. Hubs said he's been trying to tell me I've lost inches. Apparently when we got together, he could barely touch his fingers together during a hug - I know how that feels because I couldn't feel my fingers when I hugged my ex. He said that now he can almost interlace his fingers during a hug. It made me feel really good. So, screw the scale. I'm going to focus on measurements instead. My new best friend Kat is doing that too. She already threw h...

No restrictions, no excuses - just success.

I haven't updated a lot since I made my new year's resolution. So far, I'm not doing as well as I had hoped, but I'm doing better than nothing. Last week I did 2 yoga sessions, one 1/2 mile lap around the park, and 100 crunches. I succeeded in working out 3 days. Yay! Since it is getting warmer, I'm planning to do the lap around the park more often. Hubs and I used to go often last year, but stopped when it got too cold. Now we have to get back in the swing of things, and I think we can. I was upset at my weigh-in last night, because I had gone up a pound. But I'm going to try to focus my goals on what I'm doing, not what I'm weighing. This week's goal is to work out at least 3 days, and at least 30 min sessions. No restrictions, no excuses - just success.

My New Year's Resolution - Become a MILF

I know that sounds por.no-ish, but I don't care. I want to be hot and sexy by the end of the year, and I'd love to be a mom. So if we combine those, you get a MILF. (Mother I'd like to F***, for those of you that are wondering) I want to lose at least 50 pounds, which averages out to 1 pound a week. I don't see why that would be too hard. My exercise/workout plans - Couch to 5K program with my husband. It's designed to get you RUNNING a 5K in 9 weeks. I'm hoping that this will be good for me and the hubby. He hasn't really been able to run since he got shot 6 yrs ago. I figured if we went slow, this would be like rehab for him, and he will be able to run again (or at least walk easier.) Yoga EVERY DAY. Leanne, a fabulous food blogger at HealthfulPursuit.com , did a 30-day challenge, where she did yoga every day, no matter how she felt. And she realized that the days that she didn't want to go were the days she really needed it the most. And when I ...
