Thursday's What's Your Song Link Up!

This will be my third week participating, and I'm really enjoying it! This week's song is based on some issues I have been having with other women in my support group, on top of all the problems I have on my own. I don't know what's going on, but it seems that everyone wants to take offense to things that I have said with comments to me like "I work with mental patients all the time, but I don't know what I'm talking about..." or "I'm a nurse, but I don't know what I'm talking about." PCOS has not been studied enough. I don't really think any disease has. All I have done was comment about the link between PCOS and bipolar disorder, and I start getting comments like that. It's not like I'm pulling this info out my a**; I'm following it with links to legitimate research studies. It's frustrating to me that I want to share my knowledge so that others know what they are facing as well and I get griped at for it. It's like if someone had cancer, but wasn't told of the effects of chemo. If that were you, wouldn't you want to know everything you could about the disease you were dealing with? I thought so.

Even now, there are tons of doctors, including gynocologists, that don't have a clue about PCOS. So why is it so difficult to admit that you may not know everything there is to know about PCOS? I surely don't, but I'm trying to learn.

So with that said, here's my song for the week. You Haven't Seen the Last of Me by the always gorgeous Cher.

I'm contemplating making this one of my theme songs. When I first heard it while watching Burlesque, I couldn't help but feel it was being sung for me. Do you ever feel that way? If so, leave me a comment with your theme song! I'd love to hear your song!

Exercise can be fun!

The weekend is always the best time for me to get my exercise, simply because I don't have to work. Although I love my Wii workout, that's really more for the middle of the week. I've started planning my weekends to include lots of physical activities, without the dread of actual exercise. Weight Watchers stresses that you don't use the term 'exercise', but rather 'activity'. I would agree. 'Exercise' can strike fear into the hearts of even the healthy, whereas 'activity' implies something fun. So here's what I have planned for the next few weekends as 'activity': Friday, Mar 25: Weeding My Garden Oh my goodness, the weeds have just taken over! I have 3 birdfeeders very close to the garden, so seeds get thrown in it all the time. The seeds have started growing plants, so I will be digging around tonight, pulling all of them out. Saturday, Mar 26: Fort Worth Zoo specifically for the new Museum of Living Art. Last time we ...

Vegetarian life update

I've made it through the first 3 days as a vegetarian, and I haven't missed meat at all. I know that the first few weeks are the hardest, and I'm pleased so far. I've been using quinoa and hemp seeds for proteins, and will be using nuts and beans as well. There are thousands of recipes online, and I've already tried some. I'm having to teach Hubs that it's okay for him to eat meat, and that I have no problem cooking it for him. I just don't add meat to my meal. It's surprisingly easy. We went to the grocery store on Saturday, and I walked out with no animal proteins or dairy in my bags. It was easy to ignore the meat. My PCOS group is doing an event called "Creating Goals with Soul", using Danielle LaPorte's Workbook O' Fire. Some of the girls are so excited to participate - and we could all use a little help sticking to our goals. My current health goals: - Continue my vegetarian lifestyle change - Eliminate my coffee consumpt...
