Fat Ass Friday

Starting weight: 233
Last week's weight: 237.6
Current weight: 234.4
Weight +GAIN / -LOSS this week: -3.2
Total weight lost: +1.4

It's days like this when I feel a little spring in my step. 3.2 pounds in 4 days. It's amazing what the right eating modifications will do. I'm trying to do my best not to say I'm on a diet. A 'diet' is temporary. This is a lifestyle change. I've been working on it for a while, then I slipped - back into drinking Dr. Pepper and eating junk food. It's not that I don't enjoy eating healthy. I love the food I'm eating. My problem is the depression and the back pain. When I'm too depressed to get off the couch, I can't cook. When I do get off the couch to cook, I end up in crippling pain after 10-15 of standing in front of the stove. And I have to eat something, right? Is something bad better than nothing at all?

I've been able to extend my cooking time by putting a squishy floor mat down, but only by a few minutes. Last night, while I was chopping pineapple and cantelope, it hit again. And it was BAD. It didn't start bad and get worse, it went straight to worse. I was fine one minute, and the next I was grabbing the edge of the counter to keep myself from hitting the floor. And my doctor has told me that he can't do anything for me, and I need to go to another doctor. I was also told not to even come back about this problem. How crappy is that?

Brandy - Yeah, it really sucks having to deal with health problems that affect your weight. Most of the time it feels as if the world is against you. I'm trying really really hard to take control.

Exercise can be fun!

The weekend is always the best time for me to get my exercise, simply because I don't have to work. Although I love my Wii workout, that's really more for the middle of the week. I've started planning my weekends to include lots of physical activities, without the dread of actual exercise. Weight Watchers stresses that you don't use the term 'exercise', but rather 'activity'. I would agree. 'Exercise' can strike fear into the hearts of even the healthy, whereas 'activity' implies something fun. So here's what I have planned for the next few weekends as 'activity': Friday, Mar 25: Weeding My Garden Oh my goodness, the weeds have just taken over! I have 3 birdfeeders very close to the garden, so seeds get thrown in it all the time. The seeds have started growing plants, so I will be digging around tonight, pulling all of them out. Saturday, Mar 26: Fort Worth Zoo specifically for the new Museum of Living Art. Last time we ...

Vegetarian life update

I've made it through the first 3 days as a vegetarian, and I haven't missed meat at all. I know that the first few weeks are the hardest, and I'm pleased so far. I've been using quinoa and hemp seeds for proteins, and will be using nuts and beans as well. There are thousands of recipes online, and I've already tried some. I'm having to teach Hubs that it's okay for him to eat meat, and that I have no problem cooking it for him. I just don't add meat to my meal. It's surprisingly easy. We went to the grocery store on Saturday, and I walked out with no animal proteins or dairy in my bags. It was easy to ignore the meat. My PCOS group is doing an event called "Creating Goals with Soul", using Danielle LaPorte's Workbook O' Fire. Some of the girls are so excited to participate - and we could all use a little help sticking to our goals. My current health goals: - Continue my vegetarian lifestyle change - Eliminate my coffee consumpt...
