Cards and glitter

I found a new group on facebook today. It's for people with illnesses that want to swap goodies with others around the world. Awesome, right? I've participated in a couple around Christmas, but this group doesn't have a holiday requirement. I offered to make cards for anyone that wanted one, and I said that I didn't expect anything in return. I love making cards. I love scrapbooking. I love crafting in general. But I haven't been doing it lately. Maybe I thought I had to have the office organized. Or I wanted the dining room organized. Then when my niece came to visit from college, I had planned to get the office rearranged so we could make cards. We used the living room floor instead, because, of course, I hadn't touched the office. I can't really be upset about it because it was my choice. Anyways, I didn't do it. I realized that if I offered to make cards for other people, I would have to make them. And I need that push to do something more usefu...

Spirituality and the 'Lynne is Totally Awesome' Weekend

I've been thinking and soul-searching and second-guessing and planning and hoping, as I always do. I need to stop thinking about the future and start focusing on today. I need to find ways to be happy just for today, so I can slowly grow out of this pessimistic lifestyle. It's only hurting and hindering me. There's been a thought in the back of my head for a long while - I need to reconnect with my inner spirituality. Obviously, since I'm not Christian, that can make it slightly more difficult. But I've found a large group of Pagans near me, and I think that's where I need to start. For the last 10+ years, I've known that being Pagan is right for me. But I don't have anyone to share that with, besides hubs. Growing up as a Jehovah's Witness, I was going to church 3 times a week. The last time I went to a religious gathering was 8 years ago, when I took my ex-stepson to an all-day Witness function. 8 years. I know that there are a lot (like mill...

DIY Threaded Art Project

I don't remember if I found this on Pinterest or StumbleUpon - but either way, I decided I had to do it. This came from the Honey & Fitz blog. She used cork board, and if you value your time and sanity, I'd go with cork too. But I had black shelves from a collapsed bookshelf laying around, and I kept them because I figured I'd eventually use them for something. Here's her project: Isn't it beautiful? I ended up choosing the word 'Passion', and I wanted to do it in red to match our living room. This project ended up costing right at $5. The nails were 97 cents per box and I got 2, and the crochet thread spool was  $2.97. I bought my supplies at Walmart. I already had the black shelf, a hammer and tape. Be very careful with your fingers if you are using a hammer. About 2/4 of the way through the hammering, my husband got the idea to hold the nail with pliers so I'd stop smooshing my fingers. I just wish we had thought of it earlier!  ...
