The Zoo was GREAT!

The hubby and I had so much fun on Saturday when we went to the zoo. The weather was pretty much perfect, and even though there were TONS of people, we didn't have too much trouble getting around. I have exercise-induced asthma, and hubby has arthritis in his knee, so I was shocked that we only had to sit down twice, and they were brief stops. The new Museum of Living Art was very cool. I wanted to post a few of the pics I took while I was there. Bear in mind that I am not a fantastic photographer, but these aren't bad. Hyacinth Macaw Red Fronted Macaw Front: Hyacinth Macaw Rear: Blue and Gold Macaw Flamingo Cockatiel Penguin Panamanian Golden Frog This one is pretty blurry, but I think he was one of my favorite frogs out there. I even brought a stuffed version of him home :) Pigeon Zebras Mohawk Duck! Scarlet Ibis I have come to the realization that I love birds just as much as I love frogs. The best pictures I have from the zoo are the ones of the birds, and

Exercise can be fun!

The weekend is always the best time for me to get my exercise, simply because I don't have to work. Although I love my Wii workout, that's really more for the middle of the week. I've started planning my weekends to include lots of physical activities, without the dread of actual exercise. Weight Watchers stresses that you don't use the term 'exercise', but rather 'activity'. I would agree. 'Exercise' can strike fear into the hearts of even the healthy, whereas 'activity' implies something fun. So here's what I have planned for the next few weekends as 'activity': Friday, Mar 25: Weeding My Garden Oh my goodness, the weeds have just taken over! I have 3 birdfeeders very close to the garden, so seeds get thrown in it all the time. The seeds have started growing plants, so I will be digging around tonight, pulling all of them out. Saturday, Mar 26: Fort Worth Zoo specifically for the new Museum of Living Art. Last time we

Wii Workout :)

I ordered some workout goodies for my Wii, and they came in yesterday! I splurged and bought 2lb dumbbell attachments for my wiimote and a silicone cover for the balance board. The cover has little nubs in the shape of a foot. It makes it much easier for me to stay in the same position for the whole workout, and they massage my feet, too! The dumbbells, although only 2 lbs each, sure did increase the intensity of my workout. Of course, I'm sure you are wondering what my workout routine is. My custom routine mixes yoga and strength training. I use the dumbbells when I do the strength training and some of the balance games. 1. Yoga - Warrior: I love this pose, because it really stretches and tones my thighs. 2. Strength Training(ST) - Torso Twists: These stretch your ab muscles, and it isn't crunches! 3. Yoga - Sun Salutation: This pose has helped me touch my toes again! 4. ST - Triceps Extension: This is great for my upper arms, especially with the new weights. 5. Yoga

Local Support Group!

When I'm not working and I'm not gardening, I'm promoting PCOS Awareness. For several years I have been looking for a support group in my local area, so I could meet other women with PCOS face-to-face. Although I love all of my cysters around the world, being able to hug another cyster when you need a shoulder to cry on can be a very important tool in surviving this epic battle against PCOS. I finally gave up my search and decided to create a group myself. I am very excited to see how well this goes, since the DFW area has such a large population. We are the 'DFW PCOS Cysters' support group. We can be found at our website: http://dfwpcoscysters.webs.com/ Or at our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/DFW-PCOS-Cysters/198476810176802 If you know of anyone in the DFW area that might be interested in joining, please send them our way! One step at a time, we will fight this disease and win!

Reasons for the re-design :)

I decided that I needed a new template for my blog. The pink and black one I had just didn't really fit me like I thought it did. Now I have this pretty gardening one! This fits a lot better because that's what I've really started doing! I have a one garden at my home and one at my grandmother's. I'm limited on space due to living in an apartment, so I have hanging planters holding 3 types of tomatoes (upside down), a pot of strawberries, and a TON of flowers. There is a large space that looks empty in my garden right now, but that's only until all my bulbs come up! The garden at my grandmother's is significantly bigger. It's not quite finished yet, so I don't have pictures. We have planted everything from arugula to zucchini. We started a trade group with some other family and friends. Everyone is growing different fruits and veggies, and we are trading some of ours for some of theirs. If the crops turn out as well as we hope, we are also expe
